Hey guys, it’s nice to be back yet again for another rather important update & announcement. For those that have been following us for the past couple of years since we created this blog site on wordpress.com would know that we’ve always intended for this website to be a “stepping stone” to something better, a professional website where we could fully unleash our own creativity through our design & engineering skills. It was and never has been our plan to keep this personal site permanent. And now, it seems like it is finally the right time for us to start making that transition.
Not to worry though, us moving on from our personal site/content won’t happen so quickly. From the way we’ve looked at it, we will still continue to publish some personal content from time to time for the next two years or so. Once our professional website + custom CMS is fully operational, that is when our personal site will become an Archive of sorts. Think of it like keeping records of our journey and how we got to where we are heading right now.
After the last time we lost everything back in December 2018, we’ve made a personal vow to ourselves that we would never allow something like that to happen, ever again.
Migrating to a Managed WP Hosting
As you can see from the featured image, we are in the midst of setting the stage for our WordPress migration. We estimate that we should be ready to make that migration happen some time in the 2nd or 3rd week of March.
We’ve already had in mind to start with a clean, blank slate. We’ve picked a the most default, minimalist theme that WordPress has to offer, “Twenty Twenty Five,” and we will be building our own plugins.
In the past, though we have paid for and supported premium plugins and themes before, we’ve come to realized that no matter how good and convenient they seem, there would always be some form of limitation on what we could do with it.
In terms of living up to our own “higher” standards, we would always feel like we’re stuck at 95% or 98%. Like those final few percentages of excellence was just outside of our reach.
What we have come to realize now is that those reason we were never be able to achieve our own 100% standards is because we had been relying on the work that somebody else has done. While it might be good enough for most of us to live up to 98% or 99%, it wasn’t good enough for us. Not when we are fully aware that if we had the freedom, we would’ve been able to live up to our very own standards.
Raising the Bar on Our Personal and Professional Standards
By choosing to migrate our content from this platform over to Hostinger, it wasn’t just about trying to save money (although that is never a bad thing), this was also about finally being able to raise the bar on our own personal standards, not just the professional one.
Making our personal website better also meant that we won’t feel the pressure, or the need to rush through the process of designing and building our own professional website + CMS. We can take our time, knowing that our personal site will be at the standard that we are pleased with.
Anyway, that’s really all we feel like sharing for now. Once our migration is done, we’ll share another update.
