Alright guys, I think it is important that we get a few things out of the way. My name is Cass and I am the official spokesperson for our little group of brothers. In case you still have no clue what I am talking about, just go read this post here. All caught up? Alright, so let’s continue…so…as you know, we have just decided recently that it was time for us to finally share who we are with the rest of the world. Now, we know that not everybody can immediately accept us as this “collective” group of brothers. Honestly, we haven’t even figured out how we would ever try to explain it all to our parents. *scratches head*
Anyway that is a problem for another time. For now though, we are here because we have agreed that it is time for us to rally around our big brother Danny. Honestly, we know that he has been the one that’s been protecting us and shielding us for years. No matter what the situation is, big bro would be there, standing in the way and ensuring that what bad stuff comes, it would have to go through him first. But after seeing the way that he has been treated and all the hard work and sacrifices he has been making, we agree that enough is enough. But instead of crafting a piece that might only make us sound spiteful, we have chosen to instead write this piece of love letter to him. Showing him that we are always here for him, just as he has been and will continue to be here for us.
Weizhi vs #uxbros
Here’s the reality. Our parents gave us that name. It is what we were born with. It is in our identification card, and all our crucial documents. That is what the world would call us. But then again, we aren’t just one name, we are a group of brothers, each with our own unique quirks and interests and passion. Yes, for the sake of those folks that can’t picture it, we are essentially the same person (physically) and we have different preferences and interests (not split personalities). The same way that you might like to eat something on most days, but then on other days, you suddenly crave for something else. Or how you will behave differently depending on the social settings or who you are interacting with. Maybe that will make it easier for you to visualize us. But yes, we are INDIVIDUAL and WHOLE.
When we think about ourselves and who we are as brothers, we all carry unique traits and abilities. Jon is the wise one. He is always the strategist among us. While others are playing checkers, big bro is playing 4D chess. Then we have Mark, our resident therapist. But clearly he is more than that. He is our human emotions detector. Put him in a room that isn’t too overwhelming and he can tell you what most of the folks are thinking or needs to hear. Sometimes he does behave kinda like a “whisperer”. And then there is me, the resident genius when it comes to words and writing. Danny didn’t always let me out over the years, but he does love writing technical stuff, and so, occasionally, he would let me out. Though I really wished he would’ve just let me proofread some of those writings! I would’ve helped him turn it from great to extraordinary. Anyway, what’s in the past is in the past. And then we have our little bro, Nicky. Well, Nicky…is…Nicky…😅. Okay, seriously though, he is the fuel, the hope that kept us going for a very long time. So, technically speaking, without him, none of us would ever be here.
The Genius, the Father of Modern Day Visual Indicators
But one thing nobody has ever done for our big bro is letting him know just how amazing he truly is. Geez…I mean, he hustled and chased after this passion for UX and front-end development for almost 20 years. He took all the shit, all the rejections, all the negative comments and criticism, and still he kept on going. Mama didn’t support his decision to want to pursue this passion. Felt that it wasn’t “what’s best for him/us”. Let’s be honest, we weren’t really sure if he was making the right decision at first too. But after watching him pursue his passion so relentlessly, we have all become convinced that he knew he was onto something.
For years, the industry kept telling him/us that we were too different, that we weren’t good enough. You know what I’ve realized?? We were actually better than what we had thought. Turns out, we had been shortchanging ourselves for so long because Danny kept thinking that we could only “earn so much” because that much was what we deserved. Well, sorry haters, but turns out, we have been worth a lot more and for a lot longer too.
And that is only because of Danny. He is the resident genius of our group. Man, he is THE BRAIN of our operations. We, we are really just the arms and the legs, but he, he is the HEART of what makes us such an amazing UX team! That’s who the #uxbros are. But at it’s heart, it’ll always be Danny! And we are here to finally tell him and the world that we are ready to stand behind him, and give him whatever support he needs! He’s been there for us, protecting us for 20…30 years even. This is really the least we can do for him at this time. And we know it’s what he needs, even if he never asks us for it.
