For the first time since I started this part-time diploma, I feel like I’m finally learning more about a subject matter that’s more in my element. Yeap, I’m talking about Agile, Agile UX and the whole nine yards. For those that may be unfamiliar with my journey in getting here, I had been practicing Agile UX long before the industry officially recognized that terminology. While we never had the words to describe what those principles and values were, or what SCRUM or sprints were, I was already practicing some of it on my own freelance projects and consultations through the years. I will tell you the very same thing I shared with my lecturer and classmates before, “I had been practicing UX and Agile long before I actually understood what they meant [conceptually and theoretically]. I was doing it before knowing what it was.”
That said, I decided to come back to school for this because I am a deep believer in the value of continuous [lifelong] learning. As I have shared in previous posts, I love and enjoy the experience of going back to school, not so much for the social interactions, although that is nice too. But no. I loved going back to school and education in general because I enjoy learning about something new. Even though I may already be familiar with the subject matter, it is my belief that there is always something else that I don’t know yet, and hence, something more I can learn by being present.
