Hey guys, I just had a very long, 2 hour plus 1 hour plus (but felt like 2 hours) technical brief deep-dive with my freelance client’s dev team. The only thing I thought was mention-worthy today are the words of my freelance client, “These are the features that you will be working on for us next…”.
To provide a better context, my client was briefly in the call stepped into the discussion as he was trying to make a point about the Roadmap and features that have been planned for the near future. Truth is, things didn’t quite register for me until after the call had ended. You must understand what those words mean for me, especially under my current circumstances. So, I’ve just finished working on version 1.0 of the Satori PageBuilder and I have submitted a proposal to the client on Monday. So it is technically a lull-period in freelancing terms. It is that period between finding work and it can be scary, especially if like me, you are trying to restart it, or starting for the first time. I’ve shared in past postings that this is not my first experience, but it is definitely the hardest one. This time, it took me over two years before I could find a legit freelance gig.
Anyway, once I had a moment to sit and and be with my thoughts đź’, I began to finally realize what I’ve just heard on the call today, my client has named and stated that I will get to continue working on those future releases, and to me, that means more work, and also income.
Now, again, you know me, I don’t like to get too excited. In situations like these, I have been disappointed and let down so many times before. So I am cautious for a good reason. So, until something has been agreed upon and upfront payment received, I think I will reserve my excitement and joy. But I can’t deny the feeling. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Even if there is no set timeframe yet on when it could happen
