I chose a peaceful picture today because that is exactly what mind 🧠looks like right now. I mean if you could take a picture of what it feels like, then yeah, it is an image of something peaceful, calm. Which I must really say, is so super rare for folks like us that have ADHD. I mean, 99.9999% of the time, we are always wondering about something. There are probably a hundred different thoughts 💠inside our heads at any given moment. So, yeah, it is truly a rare but nice moment to quiet right now.
So, there’s a very good reason for that. I believe it is also because today, I’ve successfully managed to implement one of the most important feature/functionality updates to my Satori PageBuilder project.

See, when I first started this project, I already know that this is something I have to include inside the PageBuilder. If you have any familiarity and understanding with how PageBuilders normally work, they would allow you to insert and reordering content blocks either “in-between” existing content blocks, or they let you insert at the end of the list. But when I first started working on this, it was also my very first time building an actual PageBuilder, so I wasn’t afraid to be upfront with my client and told him honestly that I have been waiting for such an opportunity.
So, my first attempt to implement it wasn’t the most successful, but I also learned a lot along the way. By the time I have done it the second time, I was able to implement what I wanted in under two days. Now, with everything already set in place, this whole reordering and block dropping functionality has become pretty complex with lots of moving parts. If was not careful, it could end up being a disaster.
Slow is Smooth, Smooth is Fast
When I first started today, I honestly was expecting to take maybe 12 hours to work on this. But after some careful planning and thoughtful considerations on how I will approach this task, I decided that one of the goals for today is to be extremely slow. Besides, you know I am working with a very limited hardware capability right now. How fast can I really go with my Raspberry Pi 4, right? So, anyway, I did everything very slowly and very deliberately.
By the time I was done, I saw the clock and I had already successfully done what I needed to do in around 7 hours…ish. So yeah, I feel absolutely amazing about the work that I have done today. And you know what is even cooler? It’s that I only had to do it once. ONCE. No errors, no bugs, no reworks. Today’s accomplishment (if we can call it that) is a reminder that yes, it is possible for us to do things once and do it with excellence.
Sometimes, being fast doesn’t guarantee that you are doing it right. But doing it right once, almost always means you will be faster than others that have to do it again and again just to get it right. Anyway, I’m going to go enjoy my rare moment of peace and quiet before all the stress, anxiety and worries start flooding in.
How has your week been guys? Just checking in.
