Father God, let me start today’s blog post by thanking and praising You for Your amazing grace and provisions this past week! Thank you for helping me with my father’s second operation, and then also, with some money that I can use to continue paying for my daily meals. It might not be much, but I trust that You will continue to provide (just as I continue to do my best to make the best of what I’ve been blessed with).
This past week, I am both genuinely pleased and surprised that in spite of having only a Raspberry Pi 4 (8GB), I have been able to work on a real-world freelance web development project. Sure, trying to run a project locally and testing it can feel a little bit slow (everything needs a sec…so to speak)

In spite of the lack of performance of the Raspberry Pi, I have been able to get plenty done in the time that I’ve had so far. I suppose this is yet another real life example of how I’ve been able to take something so small, so little and do something truly meaningful with it. Sure, I would’ve loved to get my hands on a Raspberry Pi 5 (16GB). Anybody willing to sponsor me with one? Or how about a decent refurbished MacBook Pro?
I would be willing to give just about anything right now to get my hands on a half-decent MacBook Pro, or even just a better laptop/hardware. But that is not how I’ve chosen to focus my time and energy everyday. Instead, every single day, I have chosen to focus on what I do have, and looking at ways to maximise it, do more with it if I can.
But let’s remember, I started this post to talk about “making the best of it”, and by it, I mean every single thing in my life, including my own talents/skills, and the freelance opportunity to which I’ve been blessed with. In the world of freelance dev, S$800 is truly not a big deal. Don’t misinterpret my words and meaning, it doesn’t mean I do not appreciate the opportunity. I do, more than you can ever imagine. But I am also trying to be realistic and facing facts. By measuring the facts of some standard full-scale projects, it can potentially be in the tens of thousands if I were to charge a client my full hourly rates. But at the moment, I’m not being choosy or picky. With my family’s condition right now, any available freelance work opportunity is a blessing and something to be super grateful for.
How are you making the most/best of what you have currently? Love to read about your experiences in the comments section. Have a blessed day guys!
