Recently I decided to invest S$6 into a very simple, but nice to write on notebook. Yes, I am old school that way. Even with the convenience of today’s technology and amazing note taking apps, I still somehow prefer a pen and paper. There’s just something about being able to write on a surface that has a certain texture to it.

But more importantly, I saw it as a way to continue my daily self-reflections and reminders. I needed a way to keep all my lessons front-and-center so that I will never forget about them. Ever.

So, I thought I would officially publish a version here as well.

Here are 30 life lessons that I can share with you:

  1. Always be true to yourself and to others. Mean what you say, say what you mean.
  2. Spend less whenever possible, not more.
  3. Make sure that you always leave some savings every month.
  4. Stay focused on your work and studies. Remember what happened in 2016.
  5. Focus more on building up your character (integrity). Real trust is the realy currency in this world.
  6. Eating well (healthy) doesn’t have to be costly. It is just the choice of what we put into our bodies.
  7. Always show kindness, compassion and empathy towards others.
  8. Always appreciate & be grateful for the little things in your life.
  9. Treat others with the same amount of self-respect ad you would yourself.
  10. Focus on pursuing excellence in everything that you do. Not perfection.
  11. Remember, consistency & showing up everyday matters more than making huge leaps.
  12. I can be humble without giving up on my self-confidence.
  13. Want something? Save up for it. Always remember, it is about enjoying delayed gratification.
  14. God may have given me a purpose, but at the end of the day, my daily actions will still influence what will happen.
  15. Don’t lose sight of your faith again.
  16. Your attitude matters more than you think.
  17. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. It is a NOT a weakness.
  18. It is always better to talk less. Results speaks better than words.
  19. You can slow down, but quitting is not an option.
  20. Always focus on how you can be of service to others.
  21. Speak up/out if you see something wrong.
  22. Don’t just spend. Invest.
  23. You are allowed to say no to people & opportunities that are not right for you.
  24. Be kinder to yourself. This is a harsh world.
  25. Don’t just show up, be fully present.
  26. Listen first, don’t just or filter. Analyze later.
  27. Remember, everybody deserves a second chance. The same way you did.
  28. I cannot control what others might say & do, or how or hey might think; I can only control my own actions and attitude.
  29. You don’t need brand new stuff, second-hand stuff works just fine.
  30. If you have a plan or goal, just start. Take small steps. They don’t always have to be a leap.
