23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people. 24 Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them.
Matthew 4:23-24 [NKJV]
For those of you that may have read my most recent blog entry, you would then understand that this weekend has given me a lot to be grateful for. Whilst at the same time, I had been struggling with a rather nasty and uncomfortable hemorrhoid condition. I’ve suspected that the condition probably came about because I had been skipping and missing a lot of meals in the past 6 weeks of my life. And if I hadn’t been eating, it would also mean that I haven’t had sufficient fruits and vegetables, thus the fiber intake has been really lower than normal. That was probably what caused my hemorrhoid situation right now.
Things really started to feel really uncomfortable and even painful on Friday night. I had a lot of difficulty and trouble sleeping. No matter how I tried to position myself in bed, or even with the additional pillow between my legs, nothing worked. I was desperate because I could get any sleep the very first night. Then last night was also pretty much the same thing. I could sleep for the first 6 to 8 hours. So I began to really pray and cry out to God. I asked God to heal my body. To take away the hemorrhoid and to remove the discomfort that I had been experiencing. Something else I also worried about was the possibility that I might need to visit the doctor and do a minor op. But if I had to do that, I have to also be worried about not having any insurance and I have no money to pay for the treatment. That will definitely be very bad.
So I prayed even more desperately than I had ever tried to prayed for healing when I was sick in the past. I prayed that God would take away the hemorrhoid so that I can be totally healed in Jesus name.
Almost immediately, I got this idea after the prayer. To lay the additional pillow below my butt and to put my legs above it, leaning my butt against the pillow as if I were sitting on it. But ofcourse the pillow was laying flat on the bed still. Almost immediately, I could feel a relief. I could feel less pressure on my butt, and thus, less pain and discomfort from the hemorrhoid. Finally, for the next few hours, I was finally able to get some sleep. It still wasn’t the kind of quality sleep I was after, but it was nice enough. I finally managed to sleep.
When I woke up this afternoon, I could almost feel the difference. The hemorrhoid is still there (I checked while I was still in the shower), but it is causing slightly less discomfort today. And tonight, I intend to use the same way of sleeping to help ease the pressure. Right now, all I am trying to do is to pray that God will fully heal my hemorrhoid condition so that by tomorrow morning it will be totally gone. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
God can Heal/Mend Everything
When I think about how Jesus would heal all who were sick that were brought to Him, it made me realize something else as well. There is no limitation to God’s healing/mending powers. He can heal any kind of affliction or diseases that we have. This is not some categorization of whether God can or will heal certain diseases or sickness. There is no such thing as God will only heal those with terminal diseases. If you are having a cough, or a fever, or flu today, God will and can heal that too.
But God doesn’t just heal our diseases and physical ailments. He can also mend our souls, and our relationships with people. Throughout the bible, the word “healing” can sometimes be swapped with the word “mending” as well. So, is there something in your life right now that you are hoping to mend, and maybe you are struggling with it. Pray and ask God for His help to mend the rift.
If it is a broken heart that you are struggling with today, know that God loves you. And He can help to mend your broken heart too. All you have to do is to ask Him, and receive His healing power into Your heart.
Personal Prayer for Today
Dear Heavenly Father,
As I am sitting here, on a cushion and writing this daily devotional, I continue to pray and ask that You will continue to do Your healing work on my bed. Thank You for helping me to get some sleep last night. Thank You for giving me some relief since this condition started on Friday.
Right now, I am praying that You will heal me totally and fully, so that I won’t have to visit the doctor tomorrow. The last thing I want is to have to do a minor op. Lord, You know that I don’t have the insurance right now. And by myself, I won’t have the means to pay for the minor op as well.
So, please come and heal me today Lord. I vow to give You all of the praises and all of the glory.
In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
