25 The disciples were astounded. “Then who in the world can be saved?” they asked. 26 Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.”
Matthew 19:24-26 [NLT]
Lately, I feel like I’m getting a lesson on faith, and trusting God again. Frankly, Lord knows that this is what I need the most also. After wandering away from the path that He had given me for a few years, I think it’s only fair to say that I need a little time to find my spiritual-bearings again. Let’s just put it this way, I’ve been feeling lost for a while now, and my bearings (think of it like a spiritual compass of sorts) is out of whack. And I need a little time to adjust myself.
Here’s the truth about my daily struggles at the moment. Even though I am doing all I can to stay positive, and to trust that God is still in control of everything, I still struggle (perhaps subconsciously) with believing that anything is possible. I mean, if you were in my position right now, I’m pretty sure that you might also be feeling just about the same as I do. It’s a little hard (at the moment) to have a lot of faith, or to feel really hopeful about a lot of things. All I can do is to admit that I’m struggling with my faith, and that I’m running low on hope. So instead of trying to face everything by myself, I am now learning to rely upon God again. That means relying upon His grace, His strength, His wisdom and His understanding of everything. I already know that I can’t do it all on my own. It’s just too much!
First, You Need to Know Your Mountains

That brings me to the next passage in the Bible that I want to share, and it’s from Matthew 21:21-22,
21 Then Jesus told them, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. 22 You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.”
Matthew 21:21-22 [NLT]
I’d like to take a moment to remind you that when Jesus tells us that we can pray for anything, it doesn’t mean that you can bring a shopping list of things that you desire and He would give it all to you. Unfortunately, it doesn’t really work that way. But instead, the kind of ask that Jesus is teaching us, is about what we need so that we can be successful in living out His will and purpose for our lives. Whatever His plan for us might be, we will surely need certain things in order to be able to walk that path that He has given to us.
In a very practical and real-world example, I truly believe that God has called each of us to do different things. Maybe for some of us, it is to be a doctor, others a nurse, and for some, it’s to become a business owner, some teachers, others a software developer. Hey, maybe some people were even meant to work as bus drivers and janitors. Maybe that isn’t all that God has installed for us too. Maybe whatever we are doing today is only part of the journey towards something that God wants us to become some day.
But whatever it is that you and I have been called to do in this life, I like to think that God will also provide us with the means and the tools in order to fulfil that calling upon our lives. It could mean finding the right jobs, or meeting the right people/connections. Whatever that may be, I choose to believe that God will be able to help us along the way.
The first step to overcoming any kind of obstacle or challenges in our lives is to first know the obstacle and challenges that we are facing. But it is entirely possible that we can sometimes encounter an obstacle that seems to be rather elusive. We can feel/sense like something is in our way yet we can’t seem to put our finger on it. Sure, most of the time, I think our daily challenges and obstacles can be quite obvious because it is quite literally in our face. But there will be time when the challenges and obstacles feel so large and overwhelming that it literally feels like an invisible mountain that’s standing right in the middle of our path.
Yes, for the very first time in my life, I’m finally accepting the possibility that there are supernatural obstacles in our lives. When or under what circumstances we will encounter them can be very different for everyone. But they are real.
I, for one, am facing what I could only describe as a supernatural obstacle right now in my life. I’ve tried to make sense of it for the last few years, and more so in the past 6 months, but the truth is, I just couldn’t make sense of it all. Sure, I might be able to find some kind of justification and reason for part of why I’m facing this incredible challenge right now, but it still won’t be able to explain it all away. It’s not a normal challenge.
But on the positive side, being able to identify and see that challenge for what it is has been helpful for me because now I can take the next steps. And that is to trust God and to believe that with His help, and His strength and grace, we will finally overcome this huge mountain that is standing in my path.
Have you been able to identify what your supernatural mountain is? Share that with me in the comments section.
Personal Prayer for Today
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for speaking to me today through Your word. Thank You for helping me to understand that this period of time in my life is meant to be a process, and not something that will happen/change overnight.
I am also thankful that You have been helping me to see/identify the [supernatural] challenges and obstacles that have been standing in my way for the last two years. Now that I’m no longer trying to face it all on my own, I’m learning to trust in You again. Knowing that I don’t have to face this mountain alone, and that I don’t have to overcome it on my own as well.
Thank You for reminding me that while many things are certainly humanly impossible for me to achieve, with You, all things become possible.
So today, I surrender all of my challenges and obstacles into Your hands. I continue to believe that You will provide me with everything that I need in order to be successful at walking the path that You have set for me. I trust that You will provide me with the necessary tools, and the necessary people/connections that will help me along the way.
I vow to give You all the praises and all the glory. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray.
Amen.
